Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Security Engineer to advance abuse defenses across identity and payment systems in a remote-first finance environment. You will design controls, run experiments, and partner with product, engineering, and operations to balance risk reduction with user experience.

We expect 3+ years in security/anti-abuse roles, strong Python/Go/Java and SQL, and hands-on API safeguards and testing. Remote work options and a culture of collaboration are offered.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in Security Engineering, Software Engineering, Application Security, or Anti-Abuse Engineering in high-scale environments.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Software Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• Expert proficiency in Python, Go, Java, or similar languages with strong SQL skills.

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, and deploy technical controls to close abuse vectors.
• Translate attacker evidence into precise control requirements and specifications.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to build secure controls across payment and identity systems.
• Run experiments to evaluate the trade-off between risk reduction and user conversion impact.
• Build regression testing suites and automated attack simulations to prevent abuse recurrence.
• Define handoff criteria and operational documentation for an incubation model.
