Job summary

AMN Healthcare is seeking a Remote SDS/OBS Coder to join Health Information Management. You will assign ICD-10-CM/PCS codes for outpatient accounts and monitor bill hold reports.

The role requires CCS credentials, 5+ years acute care outpatient coding experience, and extensive experience with 3M encoder and EPIC. This is a remote position with weekly pay and competitive hourly rates.

Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• CCS credential required.
• Five (5) years recent acute care hospital outpatient coding for Ambulatory Surgery and Observation.
• Recent Level 1 Trauma experience.
• Extensive knowledge with 3M 360 and EPIC software.
• Strong communication (written/verbal) with experience in writing queries.
• Must be technically savvy.

Responsibilities

• Code diagnoses and procedures using ICD-10-CM/PCS.
• Monitor bill hold reports and IVR diagnosis codes (no procedures on IVR accounts).
• Code SDS accounts across Orthopedic, Urology, Gynecology, General Surgery, etc.
• Communicate with Workforce Manager when necessary.
• Maintain accuracy and productivity targets.
• Apply knowledge of medical terminology in daily tasks.

Position Details

• Position: Remote Facility SDS/OBS Coder
• Department: Health Information Management
• Start: 11/2/26 or ASAP
• End: 2/28/27
• Location: Remote
• Pay: Weekly pay at a very competitive Hourly Rate
• Production Expectations: 4.5 SDS & OBS Accounts per Hour!

The remote Outpatient Coder is responsible for assigning diagnosis and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS coding systems and monitors bill hold reports. Must be able to code IVR diagnosis codes on those accounts, NO procedures on IVR accounts. The type of SDS they see would be Orthopedic, Urology, Gynecology, General Surgery - appendectomy, cholecystectomies, etc, Plastic Surgery - Breast reconstructions after mastectomies, Heart catherizations/pacemakers, EGD, Colonoscopies, ENT, Ophthalmology, some Podiatry, Gamma Knife/Nuero lead placements/shunts, and Vascular. Communicate with the Workforce Manager when necessary. Performs other duties as assigned. Extensive knowledge of 3M encoder, EPIC electronic health record is required. MUST HAVE A MINIMUM 5YRS Recent Acute Care Outpatient coding experience with specific Ambulatory Surgery - all types, and Observation coding experience. Comfortable with hitting a 95% accuracy or better and hitting productivity standards. Knowledge of medical/surgical terminology.

Minimum Required Qualifications

• Must have a High School Diploma; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Must have a CCS Credential.
• Five (5) years recent acute care hospital Outpatient Coding (Ambulatory Surgery and Observation) and abstracting experience.
• Recent Level 1 Trauma experience.
• Extensive knowledge with recent 3M 360 and EPIC software.
• CCS Credentials required.
• Strong communication (written/verbal) with experience in writing queries
• Must be technically savvy.

Preferred Qualifications

• 5yrs Academic Acute Care Outpatient Coding experience specifically Ambulatory Surgeries and Observation accounts.

Working Hours Needed

• M - F 8hrs per day, 40hrs a week, during standard business hours
• Flexible hours during training and prebill review process
