Qualifications

• Experience applying guideline-based criteria (InterQual, MCG) in clinical review or UM workflows.
• Solid understanding of clinical documentation, medical terminology and evidence-based practice.
• Familiarity with HIPAA and safe handling of patient information.
• Proficiency with EMR and navigating multiple clinical systems.
• Ability to interpret medical records and determine clinical appropriateness using structured criteria.
• Experience with payer-based clinical prior authorization reviews and medical necessity determinations.

Responsibilities

• Review medical records and interpret clinical documentation with accuracy and clinical judgment.
• Apply guideline-based criteria to annotate, categorize, and label case data for AI model training.
• Ensure annotations are clinically sound and aligned with UM guidelines.
• Contribute to high-quality training datasets for safe AI model performance.
• Identify gaps or inconsistencies in documentation and elevate issues as needed.
• Refine annotation guidelines and clinical rules with cross-functional teams.
• Collaborate with data science, clinical operations and product teams for accuracy.
• Support testing, validation and quality review for AI-supported UM tools.
• Maintain documentation of annotation decisions and rationales.
• Uphold clinical, ethical and regulatory standards in data handling.
