Job summary

Beacon Hill is seeking a Rights & Permissions Specialist to support the contracts and intellectual property function for a national nonprofit. This role focuses on obtaining permissions, licensing third-party materials, and ensuring IP compliance.

The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with copyright, rights and permissions, and asset licensing, with about 3+ years in the field; strong research and negotiation skills are essential.

Qualifications

  • Hands-on experience with copyright, rights and permissions, and/or asset licensing.
  • Approx. 3+ years of relevant experience preferred.
  • Ability to independently research rights holders and navigate licensing processes.
  • Familiarity with licensing agreements, IP rights, and copyright requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage multiple licenses, deadlines, restrictions, and renewals.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented with accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Review content for copyright, licensing, and permissions requirements.
  • Research copyright ownership and identify rights holders.
  • Obtain permissions and licenses for third-party materials.
  • Communicate and negotiate licensing terms, usage rights, and fees.
  • Draft permission requests and licensing agreements using templates.
  • Maintain license terms and records in a DAM system.
  • Support the IP team with broader copyright and asset compliance.
