Job summary

Acton ADU is seeking a Residential Drafting and Submittal Engineer who can lead from site research through permit issuance, delivering precise construction documents for California ADUs. You will manage dozens of jurisdictional requirements, align timelines with consultants, and communicate effectively with city staff to keep projects moving smoothly.

This remote role emphasizes AI-enabled, efficient drafting and agile collaboration with the design team as Acton ADU expands across California.

Qualifications

• Deep, hands-on mastery of Revit (non-negotiable).
• Extensive experience with high-volume building department submittals in California.
• Strong knowledge of Type Five construction and California residential code (CRC).
• Regular use of BlueBeam; BuilderTrend is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Produce accurate, code-compliant Revit drawings for Type Five, on-site ADU construction under California residential code.
• Manage high-volume interactions with city staff across multiple CA jurisdictions and submittal quirks.
• Serve as the drafting project manager, tracking timelines, approvals, and fee triggers to keep projects on schedule.
• Review and redline others' work; apply judgment even without an architectural license.
• Own site research, site plan development, and coordination with consultants and homeowners.
• Coordinate with structural engineers and Title 24 consultants to move drawings in parallel with consultant work.
• Monitor city review timelines and follow up with reviewers at the right moments.
• Address city comments strategically to avoid unnecessary resubmittals.
• Flag cost- and timeline-impacting site conditions early to keep pricing and schedules accurate.
