Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent, required.
• Minimum of one year of full cycle medical billing experience, required.
• Knowledge of CPT, ICD-10, and modifiers, required.
• Ability to read and understand EOBs or interpret denials, required.
• Experience with insurance claim appeals, required.
• Excellent computer skills (including Microsoft Office), required.
• Familiarity with electronic remittances, required.
• 2 years of denials experience

Responsibilities

• Identifies payment details and saves backup as appropriate.
• Researches, validates and adjusts payment postings to resolve accounts.
• Interprets payer contracts to ensure codes match contracts.
• Initiates payer recoupments and refunds per procedures.
• Navigate payer claim portals and understand payer functionality.
• Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
• Operate computers and office equipment; read monitors and documents in English.
• Train new and existing associates.
