Job summary

VCU Health seeks a Reimbursement Specialist Supervisor to oversee daily operations of the reimbursement team, focusing on prior authorizations, insurance follow-ups, and patient assistance requests for high-cost meds.

You will supervise staff, coach performance, and drive process improvements while ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory requirements. Virginia licensure and PTCB are required.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Preference for Associate's degree or higher in Business, Healthcare Administration, or related field.
• Current certification by the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) is required.
• Current licensure with the Virginia State Board of Pharmacy is required.

Responsibilities

• Supervise, coordinate, and prioritize the workflow of Reimbursement Specialists across multiple clinics.
• Provide direct line supervision for Reimbursement Specialists, including performance evaluations and training.
• Monitor team productivity and ensure timely turnaround times with coaching as needed.
• Facilitate training and onboarding of new Reimbursement Specialists.
• Review complex prior authorizations and appeals, ensuring proper documentation and compliance.
• Collaborate with providers, nursing staff, and PAP team for timely patient access to medications.
• Identify process improvements to optimize team efficiency and patient care outcomes.
• Prepare and review reports on team performance and PA approvals/denials.
