Job summary

The Regional Medical Scientific Director at Merck serves as a credentialed therapeutic and disease expert who exchanges scientific information with Scientific Leaders. This role supports scientific exchange, research, congress activities, and insights, while modeling inclusive leadership within the field medical team.

Collaboration with SLs and investigators shapes company-sponsored and investigator-sponsored studies across the AOI.

Qualifications

PhD, PharmD, DNP, DO, or MD in a relevant field.
Minimum 3 years of therapeutic area experience beyond the degree.
Ability to conduct doctoral-level discussions with external stakeholders.
Commitment to scientific excellence with education and dialogue.
Excellent stakeholder management, communication, and networking skills.
Understanding of FDA, OIG, HIPAA, and other guidelines relevant to industry.
Ability to adapt in a constantly changing environment.
Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office suite.
Familiarity with virtual meeting platforms.
Desire to contribute to an inclusive environment.
Commitment to field and corporate policies and SOPs.

Responsibilities

Develops professional relationships with national and regional SLs.
Conducts peer-to-peer scientific discussions and maintains a medical contact within the company.
Addresses scientific questions and directs inquiries to appropriate resources.
Maintains current knowledge of dynamic scientific and clinical environment.
Initiates discussions with SLs/investigators to assess research alignment.
Identifies investigators to participate in phase II-IV trials and conducts SIVs.
Protocol leadership with Global Clinical Trial Operations.
Addresses questions from investigators about participation in studies.
Engages in scientific congresses and meetings for data exchange.
Gathers feedback to inform scientific needs and priorities.
