Qualifications

• 5–8 years of experience in government affairs, technology policy, law, state government, or regulatory affairs.
• Experience working on legislation in multiple states.
• Strong writing and judgment to translate complex policy developments into clear recommendations.
• Interest in working across several issues and adapting to different state environments.
• Collaborative approach with colleagues, clients, and external partners.
• Experience with contract lobbyists or in state government is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Track legislation, regulations, and political developments across multiple Western and Midwestern states.
• Develop state-specific advocacy plans that reflect client goals and local dynamics.
• Draft bill analyses, policy recommendations, testimony, talking points, and proposed legislative language.
• Build and maintain relationships with legislators, agency officials, staff, and other policy stakeholders.
• Coordinate with contract lobbyists to align advocacy efforts.
• Collaborate with regional managers, analysts, and Stateside colleagues to share intelligence and deliver consistent support.
• Prepare weekly updates and brief clients and internal teams on developments, risks, and opportunities.
• Travel for legislative meetings, hearings, conferences, and client engagements as needed.
