Job summary

Jobgether SRL, listing on behalf of a partner, seeks a State and Local Affairs Lead for the Midwest in the United States. You will lead state and local government affairs across the Midwestern states, shaping engagement around AI policy, legislation, and regulation, building relationships with legislators, governors’ offices, attorneys general, and local leaders.

Regular travel across the Midwest is expected.

Qualifications

• Experience in state and local government affairs or related field.
• Established relationships with Midwest leaders (legislators, governors, AGs, local officials).
• Strong understanding of state legislative/executive processes.
• Ability to develop and execute strategic objectives in government affairs.
• Eight or more years of experience preferred.
• Experience building external partnerships with chambers, economic groups, labor, universities.
• Exposure to technology policy or emerging tech regulation.
• Strong multi-priority management across states.
• Excellent communication translating technical subjects for policymakers.
• Policy campaign messaging experience preferred.
• Willingness to travel regularly.

Responsibilities

• Lead state and local government affairs across the Midwest.
• Build relationships with legislators, governors, AGs, and local leaders.
• Monitor state legislation and regulatory developments affecting AI.
• Represent policy positions at hearings, regional events, and forums.
• Develop partnerships to build regional coalitions around policy objectives.
• Translate technical research into practical regional engagement strategies.
• Collaborate with communications to craft regional policy messaging.
• Manage external advisors and lobbyists for regional activities.
• Coordinate with policy, communications, legal, and exec to align priorities.
