Job summary

Switch is seeking a Regional Data Center Electrical Engineer to join our team in the Atlanta area. You will support and optimize electrical infrastructure across Switch data centers, including power, cooling, and related systems, with a focus on continuous improvement and reliability.

You will lead RCA-driven problem resolution, stakeholder collaboration, and capital project support, delivering analyses and actionable recommendations for capacity, availability, and efficiency.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or higher with a certification as a Professional Engineer (PE) preferred.
• An understanding of electrical and mechanical systems that may be employed in a data center environment. This may include electrical feeders, transformers, generators, switchgear, UPS systems, power systems, ATS/STS units, PDU units, air handling units, cooling towers, pumps, and fire suppression systems.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, schematics, Sequence of Operations, submittals, and MEP drawings packages.
• Strong Outlook, Publisher, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint skills.
• An understanding of data analysis methodologies, statistical techniques, and business acumen.
• Excel in analyzing datasets and providing strategic guidance to leadership.
• Ability to analyze and implement solutions for problem resolution.
• Easily able to work well under pressure while also being flexible, proactive, resourceful, and efficient.
• Leadership skills that promote team development and support the Switch Culture.
• A strategic mindset with the ability to balance long‑term vision with operational execution.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and perform RCA for equipment failures, including electrical critical systems.
• Support operations as SME for issue resolution and event response, with training.
• Analyze availability, capacity, efficiency, and sustainability of electrical systems and report risks with mitigations.
• Monitor data center performance trends for continuous improvement and capital projects.
• Develop and own conceptual designs for upgrades to improve capacity, availability, and efficiency.
• Provide feedback to Design Engineering on infrastructure solutions.
• Serve as resident engineer for construction and retrofit projects in critical environments.
• Coordinate with operations, design engineering, field engineering, and EHS to maintain standards.
• Build trust with stakeholders across Operations, Commissioning, Construction, and Engineering.
• Handle concurrent projects across multiple regions.
