Job summary

Buncombe County is seeking a detail‑oriented Reappraisal Analyst in the Tax Assessment Office to support fair and accurate property valuations. You will analyze data, refine models, review parcel and sales data, and ensure assessments reflect current market conditions while collaborating with appraisers and staff.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of related experience; NC certification is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Statistics, Business Administration, Economics, Data Analytics, or a related field with three years of related real estate, construction, GIS, analytics, or appraisal experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred completion of IAAO courses 101, 102, 112, 300, 311, 312 and NC Machinery Act.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and monitor daily/weekly transactional data related to assessment of real property.
  • Assist Appraisal supervisors in assigning staff activities and reviewing work for accuracy with data audits.
  • Perform revaluation duties including reassessing all real estate properties in the County for assessment purposes.
  • Conduct detailed market value analysis on properties, neighborhoods, and property types using complex statistical analysis and data review.
  • Assist the public with information requests and provide guidance on appraisal procedures and valuation practices.
  • Support development of standard operating procedures and staff trainings.
  • Resolve informal and formal appeals and present findings to relevant boards.
