Job summary

Guilford County in North Carolina seeks a Sr. Tax Data Analyst to perform professional data analysis of residential, commercial, industrial, and land property appraisal data.

The role validates data, analyzes trends, and produces reports to support appraisal and appeal processes. The analyst will use tools like Power BI and SQL to integrate data from CAMA, planning, permits, and market sources, building models and communicating findings to decision makers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Data Science/Data or Business Data Analytics, Accounting, Finance, GIS or related degree and five years of experience in real estate appraisal including commercial real estate.
• Associates’ degree in Business Administration, Data Science/Data or Business Data, Accounting, Finance, GIS or related degree and seven years of experience in real estate appraisal including commercial real estate.
• High School Diploma or G.E.D. and nine years of experience in real estate appraisal including commercial real estate.

Responsibilities

• Uses Power BI to design, build and test interactive dashboards, integrating with new data sources to visualize property tax data and trends.
• Build and optimize queries to extract and analyze data from appraisal and tax management systems.
• Gather and validate property data from various sources to include property records, sales data and SQL database tables.
• Review data from reports on the Appraisal System to develop values used in reappraisals and identify patterns affecting values and tax revenues.
• Implements quality control measures to ensure data used for tax assessments complies with regulations and standards.
• Identify weaknesses in appraisal data and proactively address issues to enhance data integrity.
• Assists in developing appeal presentations for boards and other entities.
• Prepare comprehensive reports on property valuations and tax assessments for senior management and jurisdictions.
• Assists in training staff on software changes and develops schedules of values for reappraisals.
• Keeps abreast of reappraisal cycles to plan data analysis needs.
