Job summary

Guilford County Government in Greensboro, NC seeks a Sr Tax Data Analyst to perform professional data analysis of residential, commercial, industrial, and land property appraisal data, validate data, and publish insights for appraisal and appeals systems.

The role uses Power BI to design dashboards, builds queries from CAMA, SQL tables, and market data, identifies data gaps, supports reappraisals, and assists with BOE presentations. Strong Excel, GIS, and communication skills are required.

Qualifications

• Proficient with MS Teams for online meetings.
• Effective oral and written communication; interpret deeds/maps.
• Create PowerPoint presentations for Board meetings.
• Relate GIS to sales data for insights.
• Strong ability to work with databases and build queries.
• Experience gathering and analyzing large datasets.

Responsibilities

• Use Power BI to design and test dashboards for property tax data.
• Build queries to extract data from appraisal and tax systems.
• Gather and validate property data from multiple sources.
• Review data to develop values for reappraisals and detect patterns.
• Implement quality control to ensure data compliance.
• Identify weaknesses in appraisal data and address issues.
• Assist in developing appeal presentations for boards.
• Prepare reports on valuations and tax assessments for leadership.
• Train staff on software changes and data processes.
• Develop schedule of values for reappraisals.
• Stay informed on reappraisal cycles and data needs.
• Identify new data sources to support valuation.
• Provide data files for statisticians to improve models.
• Quality control over sale records and processes.
• Assist with development and testing of CAMA software.
• Assist the Assessor in producing reports and maps for public.
• Discuss appeals with taxpayers and provide supporting documents.
• Respond to technical help requests from appraisal staff.
