Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Director of Engineering, Energy Storage to lead the storage engineering team for utility-scale solar, storage and substation projects. This role emphasizes mentorship, standards development, and regulatory compliance across a nationwide portfolio.

The position allows full remote or hybrid work with regular in-office presence when needed, and up to 50% travel. A PE license is preferred, with extensive experience in design, execution, and team leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (preferred).
• 10+ years of engineering experience in energy storage, renewables, or power systems.
• Minimum 5+ years of management experience.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is preferred.
• Ability to travel up to 50% of the time will be needed.
• Proven track record of designing and delivering utility-scale Energy Storage projects.
• Strong technical background in protection, control systems, relay settings, and NERC compliance.

Responsibilities

• Hire, manage, and mentor a diverse team of engineers focused on energy storage systems and design.
• Foster effective communication between the Energy Storage Engineering group and cross-functional teams.
• Allocate resources to meet project deadlines and optimize team utilization.
• Oversee development of energy storage engineering standards and procurement specifications.
• Coordinate interconnection systems, utility approvals, ISO/NERC compliance, and energization plans.
• Drive adoption of new technologies and best practices to improve performance and cost.
• Provide SME guidance to other SOLV departments as needed.
• Develop and mentor staff for career growth.
