Job summary

Upstart, a leading AI lending marketplace, is seeking a Software Engineer to design and build high-quality mobile applications using React Native. You will collaborate with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to deliver features that delight users and align with company goals.

The role involves expanding across iOS and Android and optimizing performance. The team emphasizes pragmatism, quality, and impact as we lay the foundation for a scalable, user-first mobile platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in CS/engineering/math or related field.
• Experience building in React Native and familiarity with at least one native platform (iOS/Swift or Obj-C; Android/Kotlin/Java).
• Strong collaboration with product/design/backend teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain user-facing features in React Native mobile apps for iOS and Android.
• Design performant, maintainable mobile components and subsystems across platforms.
• Collaborate with product/design to scope, implement, and launch features.
• Contribute to platform improvements, including tooling, testing, CI/CD, and performance monitoring.
• Work with backend engineers to define mobile APIs and improve client-server integration.
• Identify and resolve performance or reliability issues in mobile experience.
• Participate in code reviews, architecture discussions, and technical planning.
• Mentor teammates and foster a strong mobile engineering culture.
