Job summary

GovCIO is seeking a React Software Engineer to rebuild customer-facing apps. You will lead the move from legacy Spring Boot/Thymeleaf to a modern front-end platform, defining architecture, standards, and dev practices.

You will collaborate with architects, backend, DevOps, security, and product teams to deliver fast, secure web apps and establish best practices across the organization.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of professional software development.
• 5+ years building production apps with React.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript and TypeScript.
• Strong understanding of front-end architecture patterns.
• Experience with state management (Redux, Zustand, or React Query).
• Experience consuming RESTful APIs and/or GraphQL services.
• Strong understanding of responsive design and accessibility (WCAG).
• Experience with automated testing (Jest, RTL, Cypress, Playwright).
• Experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and development of modern React apps.
• Define front-end architecture, libraries, state patterns, routing, auth, API patterns.
• Modernize legacy apps to a decoupled front-end.
• Collaborate with backend to build REST/GraphQL APIs.
• Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, performance, security.
• Design and implement CI/CD pipelines in DevSecOps env.
• Integrate testing, static analysis, dependency scanning, security checks.
• Champion reusable UI components and design systems.
• Mentor engineers and grow front-end capabilities.
