Job summary

Advocate Health, encompassing Wake Forest Baptist radiology coding, is seeking a hospital-based medical coder with teaching-hospital experience. You will code inpatient and outpatient services, review documentation, and assign diagnoses and procedures in line with coding guidelines.

The role is primarily remote with on-site pickup, equipment support, and team events at the medical center. CPC/CCS certification required; ongoing education expected.

Qualifications

• Experience coding hospital-based professional services in a teaching environment.
• Familiarity with Medicare Teaching Physician Rules.
• Familiarity with facility fee services within a provider-based clinic.
• Ability to meet department-defined coder quality and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

• Code hospital-based professional services accurately and on time.
• Review documentation to assign/sequence diagnoses and procedures.
• Enter codes and modifiers into the electronic system.
• Educate physicians to improve documentation for accurate coding.
• Resolve denials and explain billing issues with the team.
