Sandia National Laboratories in the United States offers an Intern Year Round - R&D Undergraduate position in Radiation Effects Research, with remote work allowed and occasional travel. You will investigate radiation effects in electronics and materials, using Silvaco TCAD tools to study SEE, TID, and related phenomena, under mentorship from Sandia scientists.

You will be mentored through seminars and encouraged to present your work to the Sandia community, with a strong emphasis on teamwork,

Qualifications

• Currently attending and enrolled full time in an accredited undergraduate program
• Pursuing a science, engineering, or math major
• Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0/4.0
• Ability to work up to 25 hours per week during the academic year, and up to 40 hours per week during the summer
• Ability to secure and maintain a U.S. security clearance which requires U.S. citizenship
• Note: If you have not earned a HS diploma or equivalent, please apply to a high school intern position.
• Pursuing a bachelors of science in electrical engineering or physics
• Interest in studying radiation effects in electronics and/or the interaction of radiation with materials
• Experience working in team environments
• Engineering fundamentals, engineering analysis and design, principles of radiation, and a strong engineering, math, and physics background
• Experience using Silvaco TCAD tools

Responsibilities

• Investigate radiation effects in electronics and/or the interaction of radiation with materials.
• Develop or use TCAD and Spice circuit simulations to better understand single event, TID, displacement damage, or dose rate effects on electronics and materials.
• Team with other specialists, to design experiments, analyze results, and to present new insights or observations.
