Job summary

MariaDB plc is seeking an experienced QA/System Engineer to join the Solution QA team for MaxScale. The role emphasizes black-box testing across multiple configurations, verification of documentation, and collaboration with support to reproduce and verify issues.

You will also contribute to the build and packaging workflow. Ideal candidates have strong C++ and Python skills, solid SQL knowledge, and experience with Linux packaging, CI/CD tooling, and BuildBot.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in C++ for test development and understanding the code base.
• Strong SQL knowledge and experience with database systems.
• Experience with Linux packaging (DEB/RPM) and repository management.
• Practical experience with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab, etc.).
• Experience in black-box testing and troubleshooting complex software interactions.

Responsibilities

• Black-Box Testing: Design and execute tests for complex scenarios across MaxScale configurations.
• Documentation Verification: Ensure product docs match actual software behavior.
• Customer Issue Verification: Work with support and customers to reproduce and diagnose issues.
• Problem Resolution: Create test cases and contribute code fixes as needed.
• Release Engineering: Coordinate maintenance releases and manage packaging for Linux distributions.
• Build & Release Infrastructure: Maintain and troubleshoot the automated build system and BuildBot pipelines.
