Job summary

LanguageLine Solutions LLC is recruiting for a Pulaar Interpreter who works from home in the United States. This independent contractor role focuses on on-demand interpretation between Pulaar and English across multiple industries, with access to support desks and training in a certified ASTM/ISO environment.

The position emphasizes accuracy, cultural sensitivity, and the ability to handle emotional calls while maintaining professionalism and confidentiality in a remote home-office setup.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Pulaar and English; skilled in cultural dynamics.
• Ability to provide cultural competency and assess regional and accent differences.
• Excellent listening, retention and note-taking to maintain accuracy.
• Ability to concentrate, stay neutral on sensitive topics and remain on calls.
• Education or work experience in language-related fields preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age and legally authorized to work in the US.
• Applicants must have work authorization without future visa sponsorship.
• Ability to read and write the requested languages is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Respond to interpreting sessions promptly and professionally.
• Render correct concepts and meanings according to interpretation protocol.
• Speak clearly in both languages with proper pronunciation.
• Maintain a professional demeanor throughout sessions.
• Remain calm on emotionally charged calls, including emergencies.
• Maintain punctuality and availability during work hours.
• Follow client instructions to meet expectations and protect LEP.
• Understand terminology across industries such as Medical, Insurance and Finance.
• Demonstrate commitment to cultural sensitivity in a diverse environment.
• Some calls may be lengthy or high-stress; adapt to dynamic workloads.
