KENTECH Consulting Inc. is seeking a qualified Background Investigator to perform independent, case-based background investigations for law enforcement and municipal clients.

You will review applications, conduct interviews, and verify information using public records and approved sources. This is a remote, independent contractor position with a workload of 2–5 cases per week and a 48-hour turnaround when required.

Qualifications

• College degree in Criminal Justice, Journalism, Political Science, Pre-Law, Paralegal Studies, or a related field.
• 5+ years of direct experience conducting pre-employment background investigations for law enforcement or government agencies.
• Strong interviewing, research, analytical, and professional writing skills.
• Experience with criminal and civil public-record research.
• Ability to manage multiple investigations and meet deadlines.

Responsabilités

• Conduct impartial, fact-based pre-employment background investigations for public-sector clients.
• Review candidate applications, employment history, and records; conduct interviews.
• Research public records across portals and databases; identify gaps and discrepancies.
• Prepare complete, accurate investigative reports and maintain case notes.
• Submit investigations within deadlines and communicate delays promptly.
