Job summary

Symetra is offering a Public Affairs Internship focused on external affairs, policy analysis, and community engagement. You will assist with research, summaries of legislation, and event support for CSR initiatives, including grant processes and community partnerships.

Fully remote internship with in-person event opportunities in the Greater Seattle and Bellevue area; ideal for a rising junior or senior student pursuing a degree in a relevant field.

Qualifications

• Outstanding written and verbal communication abilities.
• Interest in public policy, government relations and CSR.
• Ability to collaborate in a fast-paced, solution-driven setting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research, summarize legislation, track current events, and draft policy briefs.
• Attend government/community webinars and hearings; summarize key points for internal use.
• Support team during conferences and meetings, tracking outcomes with policymakers.
• Assist Community Relations with employee engagement events and nonprofit partnerships.
• Draft community event invitations and coordinate responses.
• Help administer the Symetra Empowers Communities grant process with stakeholders.
