  • Bachelor's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Public Affairs, Marketing, Political Science, or a related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in public relations, communications, public affairs, media relations, or a related role.
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong understanding of public relations and media communication practices.
  • Ability to communicate complex information clearly to general audiences.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
  • Excellent organizational and project coordination abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple communications projects and deadlines.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism and discretion when handling sensitive information.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development and implementation of public relations and public affairs communication activities.
  • Prepare press releases, public statements, fact sheets, talking points, newsletters, and other communication materials.
  • Draft and edit communications for media, community organizations, stakeholders, employees, and the general public.
  • Respond to routine media and public inquiries in accordance with organizational policies and approved messaging.
  • Coordinate with designated spokespersons and leadership on public communications.
  • Maintain professional relationships with journalists, media organizations, community groups, government representatives, and other stakeholders.
  • Monitor news coverage, social media, and public discussions relevant to the organization.
  • Track media mentions and prepare summaries of public and media coverage.
  • Assist with media interviews, press conferences, briefings, public meetings, and other communications events.
  • Coordinate logistics and materials for public affairs events and community outreach activities.
  • Support the preparation of speeches, presentations, briefing materials, and executive talking points.
  • Ensure public-facing communications are accurate, consistent, clear, and aligned with organizational policies.
  • Coordinate communications across departments to gather accurate information for public statements and announcements.
  • Assist with crisis and issues communications by preparing approved information and supporting established communication procedures.
  • Develop and maintain media contact lists, stakeholder databases, distribution lists, and communication records.
  • Maintain an organized archive of press releases, media inquiries, public statements, photographs, publications, and other communications materials.
  • Support website, newsletter, social media, and other public communication channels as assigned.
  • Coordinate with marketing, legal, leadership, operations, and other internal teams on communications activities.
  • Assist with community outreach programs and initiatives designed to strengthen relationships with external stakeholders.
  • Research public affairs issues, community concerns, media trends, and relevant developments.
  • Prepare communication reports, media-monitoring reports, and performance summaries.
  • Ensure appropriate review and approval of public information before distribution.
  • Follow organizational communication policies, confidentiality requirements, brand standards, and applicable regulations.
  • Identify opportunities to improve public communication, stakeholder engagement, and community outreach.
