Job summary

Humane Rescue Alliance (HRA) seeks a Public Affairs Specialist to support public affairs strategies, media engagement, partnerships, and external events. This role reports to the Director of Public Affairs and focuses on increasing brand visibility, strengthening civic relationships, and supporting fundraising goals.

The role partners with Development to align sponsorship activities with revenue objectives, uphold consistent messaging, and advance HRA’s mission across DC and campus

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of experience in communications, public affairs, nonprofit engagement, corporate relations, or related field.
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, public relations, nonprofit management, political science, or related field preferred.
• Equivalent combination of education and professional experience may be considered.

Responsibilities

• Media & Communications Support: handle media inquiries, draft releases, coordinate interviews, monitor coverage.
• Government & Community Relations Support: coordinate meetings with officials and stakeholders, monitor local developments, prep talking points.
• Digital Media: contribute to social media strategies, manage content calendar, respond to community.
