Job summary

Telex LLC in Pittsburgh seeks a Protection and Control Technician I (Remote) to support field teams in inspection, testing, commissioning, and maintenance of substation protection and control systems. This entry‑level role provides supervision while building relay testing experience.

Travel to customer sites is required; you will assist with relay testing using Doble Protection Suite or RTS, develop procedures, and generate basic reports.

Qualifications

• 1–2 years of field experience in relay testing and substation controls.
• Associate degree in EPC or related field.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite (Word/Excel/Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Inspect, test, troubleshoot, start-up, and collect data on HV/MV systems.
• Assist project lead with functional testing on relay panels and breakers.
• Support isolation, setpoint testing, logic testing, and basic scheme testing.
• Assist in relay testing using protection software to verify schemes.
• Assist installation, commissioning, testing, and maintenance of relays and SCADA systems.
• Develop written commissioning and testing procedures for relays and IEDs.
• Generate basic customer reports describing issues and actions.
