Job summary

Telex LLC seeks a Lead Protection and Control Technician to own commissioning, testing, and troubleshooting advanced protective relaying schemes across generation, transmission, and distribution substations.

5+ years of field experience in relay testing and substation commissioning, with expertise in three‑phase power systems and protection schemes. Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel required.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning, installation, and maintenance of protective relaying equipment and automation systems.
• Perform advanced end‑to‑end relay testing using Doble Protection Suite, Omicron Test Universe, and RTS.
• Execute functional and scheme testing: reclosing, breaker failure, and communication‑assisted protection schemes.
• Troubleshoot and optimize protocols including DNP3, Modbus, 8979, using tools like Wireshark, Accelerator, and ASE 2000.
• Develop and refine standardized commissioning and testing procedures.
• Mentor junior technicians and oversee field execution for safety and quality.
• Partner with clients, vendors, and engineering teams to deliver reliability.
