Job summary

The State of Vermont, Department of Taxes, is seeking a Property Valuation District Advisor to support local officials across southern or northern Vermont. This home-based, full-time role covers training, valuation analysis, and collaboration with municipal leaders to ensure compliant grand lists and education funding.

Ideal candidates have real estate appraisal experience, knowledge of local government, and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or higher in property assessment, property tax administration or real estate appraisal.
• Three years or more of experience at or above a technical level in property assessment or related field.
• Ability to travel and work across districts; reside within assigned district.

Responsibilities

• Provide training, education, and support to municipal officials to maintain the statewide grand list for education funding.
• Conduct detailed analyses of municipal assessment practices through the annual Equalization Study.
• Participate in division/department initiatives, gather requirements, test software changes, and contribute to reporting.
