Job summary

The City of Burlington seeks an experienced Property Tax Assessing Manager to oversee valuation of real estate and business personal property, handle appeals, and supervise reappraisals. You will publish the Grand List and Tax Book and coordinate Education Fund changes to the state.

Lead the Board of Assessors, manage the CAMA system and department staff, and coordinate with Vermont’s Division of Property Valuation and Review.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in real estate, economics, accounting, or public administration; degree preferred.
• Eight years of full-time property valuation experience with five years of supervision.
• IAAO designation and/or Vermont appraisal license highly desired.
• Valid Vermont Driver’s License; proficient with CAMA and databases.

Responsibilities

• Develop, certify valuations for real estate and business personal property.
• Compile Grand List; maintain records of ownership, value, and descriptions.
• Produce annual value change notices and chair Board hearings on grievances.
• Lead state communications with PVR; manage reappraisal projects and records.
• Oversee CAMA system and supervise department staff.
