Job summary

EMC Insurance is seeking a Property Risk Control Field Technical Specialist to conduct on‑site inspections of commercial and high‑hazard properties in the Midwest. You will assess fire protection, building integrity, and CAT exposures while delivering recommendations to underwriting teams.

You will prepare survey reports, develop loss expectancies, and communicate actionable risk control solutions to clients, with a focus on safety and cost efficiency. Travel within the region is required.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in Large Property loss control, risk assessment, or Highly Protected Risk (HPR) environments or related experience.
• CFPS or CSP certifications preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs detailed physical inspections of commercial accounts and high‑hazard properties to evaluate property risk exposures and controls.
• Assesses exposures related to special hazards, fire protection, CAT exposures, crime, and liability risks.
• Evaluates life safety systems, fire protection equipment, and building construction and integrity.
• Prepares comprehensive survey reports with diagrams, photography, and risk improvement recommendations.
• Develops detailed Property Loss Expectancies (PML, NLE, MFL).
• Collaborates with underwriting teams by providing accurate risk evaluations and insights.
• Communicates hazards and exposures to clients with practical, cost‑effective solutions.
• Reviews Fire Protection and Building plans for new construction or upgrades to NFPA/FM guidelines.
