Job summary

American Family Insurance is seeking a property claims specialist to investigate and maintain homeowner property claims, conduct field inspections, review coverages, and settle claims in the Northwest Akron/Medina/Brunswick area. This is a remote/field role with 80% field time and potential travel.

You will handle 1st and 3rd party claims, work with insureds and attorneys, and write timely estimates in Xactimate.

Qualifications

• Hands-on property field claims experience required.
• Ability to write clear, accurate, timely estimates in Xactimate.
• Knowledge of casualty coverages and endorsements.

Responsibilities

• Investigates origin and cause of claims by contacting insureds, claimants, agents, attorneys, contractors, etc.
• Handles 1st and 3rd party, multi-line claims across various policies.
• Conducts on-site inspections, evaluates damages, negotiates settlements with insureds and attorneys.
• Responds to inquiries, makes decisions, and closes files as needed.
• Interprets policies and applies coverages to assigned losses.
