Job summary

NAACP Empowerment Programs, Inc. seeks a Program Manager, Environmental and Climate Justice to lead strategic initiatives and support the Center for Environmental and Climate Justice.

The role requires strong leadership, written work, and the ability to translate research for diverse audiences. The Center collaborates with a national network to advance transformative environmental justice strategies and disrupt inequitable systems affecting Black communities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience.
• 3–5 years’ experience in program/project management in nonprofit, policy, advocacy, or civil rights organizations.
• Knowledge of environmental and climate justice issues.
• PMP Certification preferred.
• Six Sigma Certification preferred.
• Demonstrated experience leading projects of varying scale.
• Strong written and verbal communication, relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with MS Office Suite and project management software.

Responsibilities

• Contribute to a strategic portfolio of environmental and climate justice work.
• Establish and maintain processes for campaigns, initiatives, and projects.
• Develop comprehensive project plans with scope, objectives, timelines, and budgets.
• Coordinate resources to ensure adherence to schedule and budget.
• Communicate effectively with internal and external partners.
• Develop materials, reports, and presentations.
• Coordinate meetings, events, and network activities.
• Track multi-year program initiatives and grant outcomes.
• Draft internal and external memoranda, briefs, and public comments.
