What You Will Do

This position is full-time and 100% remote.

• Perform quality surgical coding on General and Trauma surgery chart types as assigned.
• Maintain knowledge of ICD-10 and CPT coding principles, regulations, official guidelines, and third-party requirements.
• Ensure all services documented are coded with appropriate ICD-10 and CPT codes, seeking proper documentation when needed.
• Achieve and maintain 95% accuracy in coding while ensuring high productivity; monitored during monthly reviews.
• Work daily on the review queue, communicate corrections, and ensure timely processing.
• Correct charts requiring re-bills and communicate with the facility as per guidelines.
• Report downtime immediately to ensure turnaround times are met.
• Collaborate with IQC staff to meet quality standards.
• Provide accurate answers to coding/billing questions within eight hours.
• Code or pending every chart within 24 hours; notify management if unable to meet this standard.
• Check Guidehouse email at least every two hours during sessions.
• Maintain current professional credentials and familiarize yourself with the coding website.
• Maintain HIPAA-compliant workstations and adhere to policies and procedures.
• Work effectively with the team to maximize efficiency and reimbursement.
• Report coding discrepancies immediately and communicate professionally via email.

Responsibilities

• Proficient in coding for Trauma Surgery cases, with E/M experience for providers.
• Review clinical documentation and diagnostic results to assign ICD-10 and CPT codes.
• Ensure coding aligns with official guidelines and payer policies.
• Review payer denials and recommend actions for resolution.

What You Will Need

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• 3+ years of Vascular Surgery coding experience (IP and OP)
• CPC certification from AAPC
• EMR experience
• Maintain credentials throughout employment
• Ability to work independently, multi-task, and communicate effectively
• Proficiency in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
• Strong attention to detail and knowledge of coding regulations

What Would Be Nice To Have

• CCVT and/or CIRCC credentials from AAPC
• Experience with multiple EMR and Practice Management systems
