Job summary

Nucor Buildings Group (NBG) is seeking a Remote Professional Engineer to design metal building systems, including framing, panels, and bracing. You will use our proprietary software for structural analysis and collaborate with detailing teams to ensure accurate, safe, cost-effective designs.

The role requires a PE in the US, ABET-accredited civil/architectural engineering degree, and eligibility to work in the US. On-site travel may be up to 10% and full-time remote options are available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Civil or Architectural Engineering from an ABET-accredited school.
• Proficient verbal and written communication in English.
• Strong knowledge of structural building codes: IBC, AISC, ASCE7, AISI, etc.
• Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration in the United States with ability to be licensed in other states as needed.
• Resides within the continental United States; availability 9 am–3 pm CST, minimum 8 consecutive hours.
• Travel to home division or job sites as needed (<10% travel).
• Legally authorized to work in the US; no visa sponsorship by Nucor now or in the future.

Responsibilities

• Design all aspects of metal building systems including structural steel, walls, roofs, secondary members, and bracing.
• Use proprietary software for frame, secondary, bracing, crane, mezzanine, and panel analysis to ensure structural integrity.
• Collaborate with the Detailing Department and other teams to communicate design requirements.
• Review and check structural drawings for accuracy.
• Pursue continuous learning and cross-divisional collaboration to grow as an engineer.
