Job summary

Gopher Sport in Owatonna, MN is seeking a Product Design Engineer to design new products and improve existing ones, turning concepts into manufacturable solutions used by millions worldwide.

You will prototype, create CAD models and drawings, select materials, review samples, and ensure cost and vendor constraints are met, with a focus on quality, durability and efficient production. This is a full-time, in-person role in Owatonna, MN.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Product Design or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3+ years of experience in Industrial Design or Product Development.
• Strong SolidWorks skills with ability to produce technical drawings and 3D models.

Responsibilities

• Create designs satisfying performance, appearance, design, functionality, quality and cost requirements.
• Provide design options with alternatives.
• Create manufacturable designs.
• Recommend design modifications to improve performance, appearance, functionality, quality or cost.
• Troubleshoot and modify existing designs for manufacturability, cost, or other obstacles.
• Improve designs for durability, manufacturability and cost.
• Confirm product specs, BOMs, descriptions and presentations are correct.
• Research patents in concept phase and create patentable ideas.
