Job summary

Georgia-Pacific is hiring a Process Controls Engineer for the Corrugated Controls team, supporting West Coast operations from a home-based role with up to 50% travel. You will read, modify, test, and validate PLC/HMI strategies to optimize line performance and reduce operator intervention across sites.

You will collaborate with Operations, IT, and Electrical/Instrumentation teams to implement improvements, document changes, and mentor less experienced staff.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience supporting industrial control systems in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience configuring Allen-Bradley and Siemens PLC/HMI systems.
• Experience implementing control changes in live production with operations and maintenance teams.
• Knowledge of electrical systems, control panels and power distribution.
• Will travel up to 50% to support site needs.
• Strong communication with operations, maintenance and engineering partners.

Responsibilities

• Support controls-focused optimization to improve product flow, stability, and throughput on corrugated assets.
• Read, modify, test, and validate PLC and HMI control strategies to improve line behavior and reduce operator intervention.
• Partner with site Operations, Process Control, IT, and Electrical & Instrumentation teams to identify improvements and execute trials.
• Support startup and commissioning of new or upgraded equipment for safe operation and handoff to site teams.
• Develop clear documentation and standard approaches to sustain and replicate improvements across sites.
• Participate in troubleshooting, commissioning, and optimization activities with site engineers and technicians.
