Job summary

1Password is seeking a Privacy Engineer on the Privacy Engineering team within Security. This remote role supports US and Canada, collaborating with Engineering, Product, Data, and Legal & Privacy partners to implement privacy-by-design practices across our cloud-based products.

You’ll build AI-assisted tooling for privacy reviews, data handling, retention, deletion, and telemetry, while contributing to scalable, auditable privacy workflows and secure software development throughout the

Qualifications

• Experience building and shipping production software in SaaS/cloud environments.
• Proficiency in at least one backend language (Python, TypeScript, Go) with testing, debugging, VCS, and good design.
• Experience with large language models or AI frameworks, including agents, tool-use pipelines, or multi-step orchestration.
• Experience integrating software with APIs, databases, ticketing systems, CI/CD pipelines, or data platforms.
• Practical experience with privacy concepts like data minimization, access controls, retention/deletion, consent, telemetry.
• Ability to own well-defined projects/workstreams from implementation to delivery with cross-functional partners.
• Preferred: familiarity with GDPR/CCPA/CPRA and related data subject rights workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build and deploy agent-based privacy engineering workflows and tooling.
• Create AI-assisted tooling to identify privacy risks earlier and apply safeguards.
• Improve privacy controls related to authorization, data scoping, retention, deletion, consent signals.
• Integrate privacy tooling with CI/CD, code review, data catalogs, and internal services.
• Improve logs and telemetry handling through classification and redaction where appropriate.
• Develop scalable privacy processes with higher speed, consistency, and auditability.
• Write production-quality code, tests, and documentation, with monitoring and upkeep of workflows.
