Job summary

Shields Health Solutions is seeking a Patient Support Advocate/Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician in a remote capacity with Rhode Island licensure expectations. You will handle prior authorizations, insurance navigation, financial assistance coordination, and pharmacy operations to improve patient access to medications.

Applicants should have at least 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience, strong customer service skills, and familiarity with insurance claims.

Qualifications

Minimum 1 year of Pharmacy Technician experience.
Strong customer service and patient communication skills.
Experience with insurance claims, prior authorizations, or pharmacy operations preferred.

Responsibilities

Communicate with insurance companies to facilitate prior authorizations.
Help patients access financial assistance through foundations, manufacturer programs, and other funding resources.
Navigate pharmacy operating systems to enter data, adjudicate claims, process refills, and create follow-up action plans.
Document patient concerns, prior authorization status updates, and financial assistance needs across databases, EMR, and email systems.
Collaborate with physicians' offices to ensure timely and appropriate medication therapy.
Maintain complete and accurate records of patient communications and case activity.
