Job summary

Airbus U.S. Space & Defense, Inc seeks a Principal Software Engineer to develop and test spacecraft flight software.

The role covers the full lifecycle from requirements through operations, with opportunities in mission concept development, modeling, and proposals. The ideal candidate has extensive embedded software experience, proficiency in C/C++, and a background in GNC, RTOS, and hardware-in-the-loop validation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM or related scientific areas.
• Preferred: Masters in STEM or related fields.
• 15+ years with a bachelor's degree, or 12+ years with a master's degree; space hardware experience is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and test spacecraft flight software across the full lifecycle from requirements to operations.
• Contribute to mission concept development, in-house modeling, and proposal writing.
• Provide autonomous support of complex assignments under leadership of the Software Team Lead.
