Job summary

Mitchell International is seeking a Principal Data Platform Engineer to own Snowflake operations and tooling across the enterprise. This remote role reports to Technology Engineering & Platforms and leads platform administration, security, and observability in support of Enlyte's data initiatives.

You will design integrations, manage data loading, and optimize costs while partnering with tech leads to drive a product-focused data platform.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or data platform roles.
• 3+ years of hands‑on experience administering Snowflake in a production enterprise environment.
• Strong experience building and supporting data integrations (Snowpipe, connectors, APIs, ETL/ELT tooling).
• Strong cloud engineering experience, primarily AWS, including the services that integrate with Snowflake.
• Strong SQL skills and scripting experience (Python or similar).
• Experience implementing security controls for sensitive or regulated data (PHI/PII, HIPAA).
• Strong communication skills with the ability to partner with and influence technical leaders.

Responsibilities

• Administer the Snowflake platform, including accounts, warehouses, databases, environments, configuration, and platform upgrades.
• Manage Snowflake tooling including connectors, drivers, data loading services (Snowpipe), and partner tools.
• Design, build, and support integrations between Snowflake and source systems, AWS services, and downstream consumers.
• Implement and maintain platform security controls with network policies, encryption, data masking, and audit logs.
• Partner with tech leads to establish observability: monitoring, alerting, usage and performance visibility.
• Monitor platform health and performance; troubleshoot issues and resolve Snowflake incidents.
• Automate administrative tasks and treat configuration as code (Terraform, CI/CD).
• Track platform consumption and optimize warehouse sizing and credit usage.
• Document platform standards, runbooks, and support processes for sustainability.
• Serve as technical point of contact for Snowflake vendor relationship, including support cases and roadmap.
