Job summary

IREN seeks a Principal Engineer, Mechanical Innovation to lead HVAC and mechanical design for next-generation data center infrastructure. You will translate innovative concepts into practical, build-ready designs and guide project teams through execution.

The role requires deep HVAC expertise, strong cross-disciplinary collaboration, and willingness to travel domestically and internationally (approx. 20–35%). IREN values sustainable, scalable solutions aligned with our renewable energy mission.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of mechanical engineering experience with HVAC and cooling systems.
• Experience creating mechanical design deliverables for construction and procurement.
• Ability to bridge innovation and execution across projects.
• Willingness to travel domestically and internationally (20–35%).

Responsibilities

• Serve as SME in mechanical/HVAC engineering for data center projects.
• Develop and maintain mechanical design deliverables and CFD analyses.
• Coordinate with NGDC/IMDC to translate standards into designs.
• Review designs, calculations, specs for alignment with standards.
• Contribute to standards library and documentation.
