Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Principal Architect to translate complex client requirements into scalable, high‑performing engineering solutions and to drive modernization of enterprise platforms. You will lead architecture, modernization, and delivery across AWS, Java/Spring Boot microservices, and event‑driven systems.

You will mentor development, QA, BA, and product teams while aligning roadmaps with client needs and performance goals.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of architecture and hands‑on engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, microservices, distributed systems, and REST/SOAP APIs.
• Experience architecting secure, highly available cloud solutions on AWS, including ECS/EKS, Lambda, IAM, and API Gateway.
• Experience designing event‑driven and real‑time architectures using Apache Kafka, messaging technologies, and asynchronous integration patterns.
• Experience leading enterprise platform modernization, legacy integration, technical transition, CI/CD, observability, performance, and engineering‑quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise architecture and modernization across APIs and legacy platforms on AWS using microservices and event-driven patterns.
• Drive technical transition and delivery with knowledge acquisition, shadow, and reverse-shadow phases; ensure readiness, documentation, and handoffs.
• Provide hands‑on engineering leadership; establish architecture and engineering standards across Java/Spring Boot, REST/SOAP, Python workflows, Kafka, MongoDB, and AWS solutions.
• Own technical delivery governance; collaborate with Product Owners and engineering teams on roadmaps, dependencies, SLAs/KPIs, performance, and quality.
• Partner with clients and engineering teams as a senior technical advisor, translating business requirements into technical solutions and mentoring teams.
