Job summary

Cognizant Technology Solutions Corporation in the United States is seeking a Principal Architect to translate complex client requirements into scalable, cloud-native solutions and drive modernizations across enterprise platforms.

You will lead architecture, governance, and hands-on engineering across Java/Spring Boot, AWS, Kafka, Python, and MongoDB, guiding teams through modernization, CI/CD, observability, and performance while aligning with product roadmaps and client expectations.

Qualifications

• 15+ years of architecture and hands-on engineering experience with Java, Spring Boot, Spring Cloud, microservices, and REST/SOAP APIs.
• Demonstrated experience architecting secure, highly available cloud solutions on AWS (ECS/EKS, Lambda, IAM, API Gateway).
• Experience designing event-driven and real-time architectures using Apache Kafka and messaging systems.
• Experience leading enterprise platform modernization, technical transition, CI/CD, observability, and engineering-quality practices.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise architecture and modernization: design scalable target-state architectures and guide modernization of APIs, legacy applications, and backend platforms on AWS using microservices and event-driven architecture.
• Drive technical transition and delivery: lead knowledge acquisition, shadow, and reverse-shadow transition phases with strong documentation and handoffs.
• Provide hands-on engineering leadership: set standards across Java/Spring Boot microservices, REST/SOAP APIs, Python workflows, Kafka, MongoDB, and AWS solutions; guide code quality, testing, observability, and CI/CD.
• Own technical delivery governance: partner with Product Owners and engineering teams on backlog, roadmaps, dependencies, SLAs/KPIs, performance, and delivery quality.
• Partner with clients and engineering teams: act as senior technical advisor translating business requirements into technical solutions; mentor development, QA, BA, and product teams.
