Walker & Dunlop is seeking a Principal AI Software Engineer to lead end-to-end AI initiatives for its Loan Origination and Servicing platform. You will design scalable agentic workflows, evaluate models for cost and latency, and mentor teams across the WDTech AI Development Group.

The role emphasizes production-grade AI/ML systems, real-time insights, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to push innovation in real estate finance tech.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of software development experience with production systems.
• Experience delivering production AI/ML systems including LLM-powered applications and agentic workflows.
• Deep experience with modern agent frameworks and SDKs.

Responsibilities

• Own complex AI and platform initiatives end-to-end.
• Design, build and maintain agentic workflows for loan intake, document review, and servicing.
• Lead model selection and routing, evaluating cost, latency and quality.
• Design interfaces for MCP tool servers, agent handoffs, subagents and human-in-the-loop checkpoints.
• Establish evaluation, observability and guardrails for production AI systems.
