Job summary

Beacon Mutual Insurance Company in Rhode Island is seeking an Associate Premium Auditor to verify payroll records, operations, and exposures to determine earned premium for policy periods. You’ll work under supervision, support ratemaking, and assist customers, agents, and underwriters with audit requirements and class codes.

You will complete customer audits, review classifications, and document analyses while maintaining strong attention to detail and compliance with Premium Audit standards.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma required; Associate degree or equivalent preferred.
• Basic analytical and numerical skills with strong attention to detail.
• Ability to learn auditing principles and workers’ compensation classifications.
• Customer-focused, collaborative mindset and openness to change.
• Transferable experience in customer service, payroll, accounting, insurance, or admin roles.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to learn multiple databases.

Responsibilities

• Complete customer audits across a broad range of customers and industries, accurately classifying businesses and employees for workers’ compensation in line with Premium Audit standards and regulations.
• Research and prepare using resources like customer websites, coverage information, NCCI, Secretary of State, and DLT websites.
• Review classifications, verify class codes, and communicate potential changes to underwriters.
• Document audit analysis and decisions to support compliance with Premium Audit policies and DBR filings.
• Deliver customer-centric service: explain the audit process, respond to inquiries, and build relationships with customers, agents, and underwriters.
• Support the Premium Audit team: process voided and reassigned audits, upload payroll reports, assist with reconciliations, and generate monthly invoices via Adobe Sign.
• Grow and contribute through special projects and departmental initiatives.
