Job summary

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of health insurance plans and requirements.
• Type a minimum of 45 words per minute.
• 1 year in healthcare field or related prior authorization or medical billing experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage prior authorization, eligibility and benefits for hospital ancillary services.
• Obtain real-time eligibility and benefits using payer sites or by calling payors.
• Review payer policies to interpret medical necessity and submit authorization requests.
• Communicate results to patients and staff about eligibility and authorization status.
• Document all interactions and updates in the EMR per department standards.
• Coordinate problem-solving with departments, providers and patients as needed.
