Job summary

Qualifications

• Licensed Practitioner Nurse or Registered Nurse with critical care or endoscopy experience.
• Critical thinking skills.
• Visual/hearing ability sufficient to comprehend written/verbal communication.
• Ability to deal effectively with stress.

Responsibilities

• Review patient charts prior to scheduling to determine appropriateness for procedures.
• Identify medical conditions, medications, or other factors that may require additional review or clearance before scheduling.
• Obtain and review outside medical records, test results, or clearance documentation when needed.
• Identify patients who may need to be referred to or evaluated at an alternative level of care.
• Complete pre-admission phone calls with patients to obtain and verify medical history, medications, allergies, and past anesthesia history and educate on pre-procedure instructions.
• Document all chart reviews, patient assessments, and recommendations in the EMR.
• Communicate identified concerns to physicians and staff for further evaluation.
• Maintain knowledge of center procedures, pre-admission requirements, anesthesia guidelines, and policies.
