Job summary

The Ohio State University Health System is seeking a Pre-Certification Coordinator to join the Finance / Revenue Cycle Pre-certification team. You will verify benefits, obtain approvals for outpatient, inpatient and ambulatory services, and assist with patient communications to complete the authorization process.

Responsibilities include coordinating prior authorizations, pre-approvals, PCP referrals, and predeterminations while supporting accurate demographic and insurance information

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required with basic health care or revenue cycle exposure.
• 6 months of relevant experience in health care, revenue cycle, or insurance authorization preferred.
• Experience with medical terminology and payer requirements is advantageous.
• Proficient using Windows, Excel, and online navigation tools; able to manage multiple databases.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate insurance verification and precertification for outpatient, inpatient, and ambulatory services.
• Obtain prior authorization, pre-approvals, PCP referrals, and predeterminations for scheduled visits.
• Contact patients to gather demographic and insurance details and explain anticipated co-pays.
• Support and communicate with health care team to ensure efficient authorization workflows.
