Job summary

Caterpillar’s Electric Power Division seeks a qualified engineer to deliver automation and control solutions for generator switchgear systems. You will lead design, programming, testing, and commissioning of LV/MV control systems, collaborating with dealers and factories to retrofit and implement new projects.

Candidates should have a BSEE or BSEET or equivalent, strong communication, and willingness to travel up to 50%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent preferred.
• Experience with automation and controls for power systems is a plus.
• Willingness to travel 35–50% and work in a customer-facing engineering role.

Responsibilities

• Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposal development with Dealer and Factory teams.
• Design, programming, testing, and commissioning of low- and medium-voltage generator control systems.
• Convert legacy PLC programs to current platforms and validate performance.
• Develop and modify PLC and HMI applications using standard templates.
• Partner with CAD designers to produce wiring and assembly drawings.
