Job summary
Caterpillar's Electric Power Division is seeking a qualified Automation Engineer to design, develop, and implement generator control switchgear systems. You will deliver automation solutions for power systems, lead retrofit and new projects from concept through commissioning, working with dealers, factory teams, and field technicians.
Requirements include a BSEE or BSEET degree or equivalent experience, 2+ years in automation and controls, PLC/HMI experience, travel 35-50%, U.S.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field, or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years of related automation/controls experience; 4 years without degree.
- Valid driver's license and ability to meet background, drug, and medical requirements.
Responsibilities
- Identify retrofit opportunities and support proposals with Dealer and Factory teams.
- Design, program, test, and commission low- and medium-voltage generator control systems.
- Convert legacy PLC programs and validate performance.
- Develop PLC and HMI applications and create wiring drawings with CAD.
- Provide technical support to AES Sales and Product Support Center teams.
- Train technicians and customers on maintenance and operation.
